Čivas

Cf. Chỹva (see). It is not entirely clear which of these two genders - Či̇̀vas or Čỹvas - is the real one. Perhaps there are later surnames with long y, since they are from those dialects which lengthen the stressed vowel i. The origin of the surnames Či̇̀vas (and Čỹvas) is unclear. Perhaps connected with lit. čivénti „čiulbėti, čiženti“ ¹.
