Etymology
Cf. Šorà, Shore, Shore (see). The origin is not entirely clear. Perhaps to be connected with lit. shore „skubiai, smarkiai, nuolat dirbti, plušėti; bėgioti, skubėti“ (LKŽK), shore „skuba, bruzda, sąjūdis, ruoša; rūpestis“ (ibid.) or similar. However, it can also be of Germanic origin, cf. German Schor, Schorre ¹, Schorr ². In addition, the fact that these surn. šor- can be from šur- and šur-, cf. Šurỹs, Šuoris (see).
