Etymology
The origin is not entirely clear. Perhaps from lit. frost „įkastas klojimo durų, medinio šulinio rentinio, vartų, tilto and others stulpas; medinio kibiro, statinės šono lentelė“ (DLKŽ). Cf. still lit. Šiulỹs (see), German. Schuhl, Schüle, Schüly ¹.
