Etymology
The origin is not entirely clear. Cf. lit. šùtas „drėgmė, garai, prakaitas; blogas, tvankus oras“ (DLKŽ), see also Z. Zinkevičius, 1977, p. 208. But cf. still brus Шут, Шутаў, Шутoў ¹, Polish. Szuta (SSNO V 338), Szuty ² and German. Schütt, Schütte ³, Schüte, Schüthe, Schuth ⁴.
