Žutautas

Cf. Žū́tautas (see). Composite surn. from žu-, žu- and taut-. For žu- cf. lit. pers.n. Žù-kantas, Žù-tartas ¹. The origin of Sando žu-, žu- is unclear. Perhaps it is related to Lieut. die, die, die, die „galą gauti, mirti; dingti, prapulti; vargti, kamuotis“ (DLKŽ). For the nation - see Taũgin.
