From *Alksmantas. Cf. Al̃ksmon < *Alksmanas. The origin is unclear. Possibly compound personal nouns, with the consonant k of the first syllable being indented: alks- < als-. Then for als- cf. Al̃žbutas (see). For mant- see Mañgin.
