ANCIJÓNIS
Etymology
Cf. Latin surn. Ancans (RTAS 55). Pvt. Ancijónis and Anciónis (see). The origin is not entirely clear. But perhaps they are not derivatives of the Lithuanian patronymic suffix -onis from Áncas (see). Rather, they are reworkings (especially due to geography) from Limm. Ancāns (RTAS 55), which in turn is apparently a Germanism - German. Hanson or something.
