Balnis

Perhaps the ending -is is a derivative of the adjective bálnas „baltas“. The variant with bal̃-, if it is not metatonic, may be of another origin, cf. Bal̃nius (like Rãčis: Rãčius: rãčius „ratų dirbėjas“).
