Braunas
BRÁUNAS
Etymology
From German Braun ¹. Only because of Ariogala surn. Bráunas, called Briaunà by the people, is doubtful, because it is not clear whether due to the possible sporadic softening of r in these places ² braun- turned into briaun- (the expected *Briaunas instead of Briaunà could be a substitution gender according to the generic word briaunà), or whether the variant with a soft consonant r is earlier, see Edge
Feminine FORMS
Braunienė / Braunaitė
Pronunciation
/¹ˈbrɑˑʊnɐs/
