Etymology
We should treat the compound surname (from *Bres-gėla) very carefully, because it may be a derivative of the suffix -ėla from the verb brezgė́ti „krebždėti, skrebėti“ (LKŽ I 1032), cf. tẽkēlas: tekḗti, šaukēlà „šauklys“ ¹.
