Bricas
BRÌCAS
Etymology
The origin is unclear. It can also be a nickname from lit. bri̇̀cas „tinginys, nenaudėlis“ (LKŽ I 1038). This common word will probably be Slavism, cf. polish brydź „bjaurus žmogus“ (SJP I 214), brzydź „idem“ ¹. On the other hand, surn. itself can also be borrowed, cf. polish Brzyc, Brzycy ².
