Budginas
BÙDGINAS
Etymology
Aggregate surn. Cf. Bud-vỹdis, Bùd-vila, Bùd-vilas, Būd-vi̇̀las (see), Bùd-vaišas ¹. The origin of the first sand bud- is not clear, because theoretically it can also come from but- (see Bùtautas). Based on the graphic image and some other circumstantial facts, primarily the collated pers.n. Bud-i-vydas, which has retained the connecting vowel ², and the surnames Gél-būda, Gel̃-būda, whose second syllable is possibly from bud-, it can be assumed that the root bud- may also have the surname Bùd-ginas. Sandas is associated with Lieut. to wait, bùdi ³. For defense, see Gi̇̀mbut.
