Limm. place names Buñka k., Buуñkas k., Buñki k. are associated ⁸ with Latv. in Germanism bun̂ka „storas, pūstas puodas, kaušas; indas sviestui“ (LVV I 352). However, these place names are most likely derived from the corresponding personal names, which in one case may be of nickname origin from the borrowed bun̂ka ⁹, but most of the time they themselves are apparently borrowed.
