Bureika

BUREIKÀ

Etymology

The origin is unclear. BRuss. Буpэйка is also associated with lit. Bureikà, and with bRuss. буpыjuodbėras; dvylas, žalas“ ¹. Russian Буpейка is also associated with Russ. surn. Буpый, Буpoй, cf. Russian буpый „idem“. Russian surn., in addition, can also be composed of Russ. surn. Буpяй ² and suffixes -ка: *Буpяйка > Буpейка. Is lit. surn. Bureikà is borrowed from the aforementioned sl. e.g., whether it is a derivative of the suffix -eika from some Lithuanian word, e.g. bùrti ³, it is difficult to decide now. But the fact that the common word *bureika lit. unknown in the language, does not allow ignoring the possibility of borrowing.
