Etymology
Cf. lit. Drei̇̃žas (see), Latv. Dreižis (LAG 291). It is most likely related to lit. lizard „nedidelis ilga uodega roplys“ (LKŽ II 707). True, the word dri̇́ežas ¹ in the dialect must be pronounced with ė̃: *drėžas ², but this presence of the diphthong ei instead of the expected ė is explained ³.
