Dulys

Cf. lit. Dulà, Dū́la, Dulià, Dùlis, Dùlius (see). Most of these surnames are likely to be associated with lit. dûlas, dûlas „pilkas; palvas, palšas, gelsvas, gelsvai rausvas“ (LKŽ II 815), Latv. duls „tamsus“ (LVV I 513). It is not clear whether the Latvian surnames Dulle (LAG 398), Dullis ¹ also belong here. It is true, in one other case, the mentioned surnames of ours can be borrowed, cf. polish Dul, Dula ², bRuss. Дуля ³, Russian. Дулo, Дуля ⁴.
