Etymology
The origin is unclear. Connection with Lieut. einùs (: ei̇̃ti) „greitas, judrus; kuris vienoje vietoje neužsibūna, nuolat keičia gyvenamą ar darbo vietą“ (LKŽ II 1068) can only be guessed. Due to the geography (western Lithuania itself), there is reason to suspect Germanism, cf. German Eine ¹ or similar.
