Etymology
Aggregate surn. Cf. Latin Geis-tars (LAG 248), lit. Gei̇̃š-taras, Geiš-tautas, Geiš-ter-ãvičius, Gei̇̃š-tora, Gei̇̃š-áitis, Gei̇̃š-toras (see); Latin Geis-tarts (LAG 229), Geis-tauts ¹, Ģeis-tauts ²; Ave. Geys-tarre ³. The root geis- is connected with geid-, cf. lit. Gei̇̃d-vilas ⁴, OPr. Geyd-e-buth ⁵. sande geis-, geid- also occurs: lit. Bùt-i-geidas ⁶; Ave. Nam-geist ⁷, Myl-e-geyde, Wyss-e-geyde ⁸. The root geis- (geid-) is associated with lit. gei̇̃sti (see Geidùtis), geidžiù ⁹.
