Gendvilas
GEÑDVILAS
Etymology
Cf. lit. Geñd-vila, Gend-vi̇̀lis; Gind-vilà, Gind-vi̇̀lis (see) ¹. Aggregate surn. For vil- see Vi̇̀lbut. The origin of the first word gend-, gind- is not entirely clear. If it will not come from gent-, gint- ², then perhaps it is connected with pa-sigèsti (pasigeñda) ³. Also cf. Géntvainis, Giñtvilas (see).
