Maybe sometimes, especially when there is a short vowel i in living language, it is connected with lit. girà „gėrovas, gėrėjas; toks rūgštus gėralas“ (LKŽ III 328). However, as shown by the genders used by the people, Girà is often apparently associated with Gyrà (see).
