Jucys
JUCỸS
Etymology
Cf. lit. surn. Jùcas, Jucẽvičius, Jùcis, Jùcius (see), Latv. Jucítis ¹. Further, apparently, it is connected with the German Juco ², Juzo, Jutz, Jutzi ³, bRuss. Юцэвiч, Russian. Юцевич ⁴. Our surn. Jucỹs, etc., are apparently abbreviations of some other, most likely, baptismal name, but it is not entirely clear from which - it could be from Jude or Justin.
