Jundulas

JUÑDULAS

Etymology

Cf. Ìndula, Iñdul, Indžula, Juñdal (see). Mostly, apparently, the nickname surn., is connected with lit. juñdulas „jundilas, kas nuolat juda; nenuorama, padauža, išdykėlis“ (LKŽ IV 378), indulas „landus and daug kalbantis žmogus“ ¹, cf. to move „judėti, linguoti“ ². However, the fact that Lieut. surn. Juñdulas, especially, say, Juñdalas or the like, can sometimes be hybrid derivatives or simply reworked from the Polish. Jandal, cf. Jandas, Jandek, Jandel, Jander, Jandoż ³. See also Jùndzila
