Cf. polish Kordasz (SSNO III 85), Kardasz, Kardosz: Karda, Czech. Kardaš, Kardoš ¹, bRuss. Каpдаш ², Russian. Каpдаш (CAМC II 768). It is believed that the root kard- can be from the name Karl, Karel, etc. ³. East Slavic pers.n. with a sword - sometimes, apparently, they will have come from the Turks, cf. so sword „vienmetis“ ⁴.
