Etymology
Cf. lit. Sponge (see). Theoretically, there can be nicknames and are associated with lit. kêmpa „sudžiūvęs žmogus ar gyvulys“, kêmpa „šykštuolis“ (LKŽ V 561). But, especially due to geography, it is probably more reliable to compare with the German. Kemp, Kempe - see Kempf.
