Kryšmantas
KRỸŠMANTAS
Etymology
Cf. Kri̇̀šmont (see). The origin is unclear. Theoretically, they could be treated as compound surnames, the second syllable of which is mant- (see Mánginas). But, it seems that most likely it will be „sulietuvinti“ (sandas mant- according to other personal names with the second sandus mant- from man-) of Latvian surnames Krišmanis (LAG 330), Krišmans ¹ or something like thimm. options. Latvian surnames, in turn, are related to German. Christmann, Krißmann or the like: Christianus ².
