Etymology
Cf. lit. lãpšas „silpnas, nesveikas, lopšnus“ ¹ - see Z. Zinkevičius, 1977, p. 164. But mostly, apparently, „aplietuvintas“ Latvian personal name, cf. Latin Lapsa ²: Latv. lapsa „lapė“ (LVV II 422).
