Cf. Waiter (see). Compound surnames with the second syllable -mikelis (-ys) is from the baptismal name Mi̇̀kelis. The first sandas is also possibly a personal name, from Laũkis, Laukỹs or the like. Although its appellative origin (see Laukỹs) is not impossible.
