The relationship with Lagỹs (see) is unclear. Cf. also Lēgis (see). Perhaps connected with lit. pressure „neišmanėlis, kvailys“, cf. power „ant stogo galo dedami paukščio pavidalo papuošimai from sukryžiuotų lentų“, legóti „smarkiai, godžiai ryti, ėsti, lapnoti“ (LKŽ VII 231).
