Liaudanskas

Cf. Liaudénskas, Liauḋ̀nskas (see). Most likely, in most cases, these are glorified surnames from Lithuanian personal names with folk-: *Liauda, -ė, -is, -ys or the like. Cf. a fact from the 16th century, when Laudynajtis turned into Laudyński ¹. (ATSŽ II 159). BRuss. surnames Ляўда, Ляўдзенка, Леўдзенка, _Леўдзiкау_̆, Левдик, M. Birilas are considered to be of uncertain origin, may be Baltisms ². Polish Lauda (the surname of the 15th-century Cracow bishop) would remain without a truer interpretation (SSNO III 235). Limm. Laude (LAG 25) and especially Ļaudiņš (LAG 444), Laudiņš ³ may also be related to Limm. ļàudis „žmonės“ (LVV II 531). Although cf. German Laudi ⁴, Laude ⁵.
