Liucvaikis

Cf. Lucveikis (see). Unclear relationship with Liùč-vaitis (see), it is difficult to even say which of these two genders (Liùcvaikis or Liùčvaitis) is primary, older, and which is secondary, newer. Anyway, one can suspect that these are compound surnames: Liùc-vaikis, Liùč-vaitis. The second forms -vaikis or -vaitis could be derived from vai̇̃kas or vaitas. The interpretation of the first words liuc-, liuč- depends on which gender (with -vaik- or with -vait-) is the primary, etymological one. Considering other circumstances, first of all the surname Sén-vaitis (see), it is possible to guess the gender of Liùč-vaitis when it is older.
