Macvilas

The origin is unclear. There can be a compound surname, both parts of which are personal: mac- (cf. Macỹs - see Mãcpreišsis) and vil- ¹. There are more surnames of this type, for example: Mi̇̀cpovilis, Mõckapetris, Vaičjurgis, Jurgjonis ². But cf. Belarusian surname of uncertain origin Мацавiла ³.
