Mančius
MAÑČIUS
Etymology
Cf. Mančas, Mončis, Mončỹs, Moñčius (see). The origin is unclear. There may be nicknames associated with lit. mančius „kas turi daug mantos, turtuolis“ (LKŽ VII 819), with Mañginas (see) or similar. However, sometimes a different origin is also possible (cf. one German - from Papilė) - possible connection with Mañcius (see), cf. still German Mensch ¹.
