Mielkus

Cf. Mi̇́elka (see). The origin is unclear. Perhaps nickname examples, connected with the southern Lithuanian word mi̇́elku „silpna, negera, bloga širdžiai“, mielkti „rūgti, gesti“ (LKŽ VIII 148). However, the possible connection with the root melk- (see Melkis) and especially the root milk- (see Mil̃kus) surnames cannot be overlooked.
