Cf. Mäžė́nas (see). The latter surn. can also be from Miežėnas. Both of these surn. theoretically, the suffix -ēnas is derived from Miẽžis, Miežỹs (see) or the like. However, in any case, accepting these etymologies without reservation does not allow such a brute. surnames like Мяжэня: мяжа „ežia“, Мяжэнны, Russ. Меженный: Russian. меженный „padarytas geru oru“, BRuss. мяжэнiнны „idem“ ¹.
