Cf. Milis, Milỹs, Mylis (see). Usually an abbreviation of the baptismal name Emilijus or Milijus (cf. BRuss., Rus. Милий). For such a shortening, cf. Brus Мiль: Милий ¹, Russian. Миля: Милий ², Ukr. Мiлькo: Oмелькo, Oмеллян ³, German. Millies, Millias, Miles, Mielies: Aemilius ⁴, Milies: Ämilius ⁵. Perhaps Mi̇̀lius in one other case may also come from lit. compound personal nouns with the first syllable mil- ⁶ ⁷.
