Minkus
MIÑKUS
Etymology
Cf. Mi̇̀nka (see). The origin is not entirely clear. It is possible that the gender Miñkus or similar. can be from compound personal nouns whose second case is kant-, kint-, etc., cf. Mi̇̀nkantas ¹. However, perhaps more often Miñkus can be derived from Dominỹko, cf. German Minkus: Dominicus ², or from some other personal name, cf. polish Minko, Mińko, Minek: Michał (SSNO III 517), bRuss. Miнкo, Мiнкoў, Miнкiн: Мина ³.
