Muka

MUKÀ

Etymology

Cf. Mùkas (see). The relationship with Mūkà (see) is not entirely clear. Cf. Latin Mukka (LAG 409), lit. Muchà (see). A connection is also possible with Lithuanian: mūkis "a man who is lonely, a coward, a loser; fat, fatty" (LKŽ VIII 394), mūkinti „plikyti, tvilkyti“ ¹, mūkti „luptis, nertis, plikti, slinkti, smukti; blukti; kristi, tižti, zmekti; greit bėgti, sprukti“ ² or similar.
