Nacas
NÃCAS
Etymology
Cf. Nãcis, Nacỹs, Nãcius, Nocỹs, Nõcius (see). This surn. may have evolved from some other longer personal name, most likely from the baptismal name Ignõtas and its Lithuanian or Slavic variants, cf. polish Ignacy ¹, bRuss. Игнатий, Iгнацiй ². If possible, such a shortening is confirmed by, let's say, Polish. Nacewicz: Ignacy ³, German. Natz: Ignatius ⁴.
