Nevidauskas
NEVIDÁUSKAS
Etymology
Cf. Nevidèckis (see). The origin is unclear. It is believed that the stem nevid- is compound: ne- and vid- (vyd-), although we hardly have any clearer compound Baltic personal names with negative ne- ¹. For vid- (vyd-) see Diamond. Unmissable and possible borrowing: nevid-< *nevied- or *ne-ved-, cf. polish Niewiadowski (SSNO IV 59-60). BRuss. Heвiдoвiч can also be interpreted in various ways - and from lit. *ne-vid-, *ne-vid-, and from bRuss. невiд „tas, kuris nebuvo prižiūrimas, neapžiūrėtas“ ².
