Norkus

Cf. Norkà, Norkas, Norkỹs (see). It is assumed that there may be abbreviations from compound personal names - *Nor-kantas or the like. ¹. But it can also be simply from nóras, nôréti, norùs (see Noréika) or the like. For such a formation, cf. płepkus „plepys“, shlāpkus „šlapias žmogus“, tūpkus „kuris tūpčioja“ ², surn. Juõdkus: black, etc.
