Etymology
The origin is not entirely clear. Cf. Col. Kamãnai, formerly ex. hedgehog (Lž, Akm, Vkš) - see K. Būga, 1961, p. 528. Perhaps the original meaning of the surname was one who lived by the Kamãnai lake or swamp or something like thimm.
