Cf. also Pėlė, Pėlis, Pelỹs, Pelius (see). Cf. Latin Pelis, Pēlis ¹, Pele ², Pels ³, OPr. Mouse ⁴. These surn. the origin is not entirely clear. It could be pers.n. having a root of Baltic origin. ⁵. But the possibility that it is a form of the baptismal name Felix cannot be overlooked, cf. polish Feliś, Felis, Feluś ⁶, bRuss. Фэля, Фэлё: Фелiкс ⁷.
