Cf. Podė́nas, Põdžius (see). These surn. the origin is not entirely clear. Pod- may have arisen irregularly from puod- (see Puodỹs), but cf. lit. Germanism was supported by „krikštavaikis; krikštatėvis, podis“ (LKŽ X 398).
