Etymology
It is possible to derive this surname and some derivatives of suffixes with the root ras- from lit. rasà „vandens lašeliai, susidarę atvėsus orui“ (LKŽ XI 182), rasóti „kristi rasai“ ¹ or similar. But it seems more plausible to believe that the surnames with ras- can be derived from some other longer personal name, perhaps from the baptismal name Gerãsimas, Rostislãvas ² or the like.
