Pvt. probably comes from the abbreviation of the baptismal name Sebastijõnas ¹, although there are other opinions about the origin of sab-, cf. Brus Cаба, Cабiн, Cабiч, which M. Birila considers to be of appellative, nickname origin ², Russian. Sabo, Sabov, which B. Unbegaun connects with the Hungarian pers.n. ³.
