Sargautas
SÁRGAUTAS
Etymology
Cf. Guard (see). Double-stemmed example: sar-gaut-. For sar- cf. Sar-gėdà, Sár-mon (see). The origin of this sando is unclear, perhaps it is some graphic variant of the sando that came through writings written in non-Lithuanian languages, see A surgeon. For get- cf. lit. Daũ-gautas, Sùr-gautas ¹, OPr. Ab-get; Sur-gaute ². Sandas is derived from lit. get ³.
