Slavėnas

Cf. Slavena (see). This surn. could be formed with the patronymic suffix -ēnas from *Slava, *Slavỹs, *Slavas or the like. These pers.n. we could derive it from the ethnonym slãvas „bet kurios slavų tautos žmogus“ (LKŽ XII 1200) or from Slavic pers.n., cf. Brus Cлава: Bячеслав ¹, Russian. Cлава: Бoлеслав, Бpoнислав, Bладислав, Bячеслав etc. ², Polish. Sława (SSNO V 106) etc. Cf. still lit. Slav „slavas“ (LKŽ XII 1200).
