Cf. lit. Stukà, Stùkis, Stukus (see), Latv. Stuķis ¹. Most likely, these are nicknames surn., connected with lit. stùkas ² „gabalas, gumulas, luitas; storas medžio gabalas, rąstagalys, trinka; apie storą, nerangų, tingų žmogų“ (LKŽ XIII 1014). In another case, surn. could simply be borrowed, cf. German Stuck, Stuke ³, Stuke, Stucke ⁴ or bRuss. Cтук ⁵.
