Etymology
The origin is not entirely clear. Perhaps it is a double-stemmed example: Taũ-gantis. For you - see Proliferative. For gant- in the second stem cf. lit. pers.n. Daũ-gantas, Gãl-i-gantas, Gẽd-gantas, Pý-gantas, Skaũst-gantas, Svi̇̀r-gantas ¹, OPr. Pi-gant ². This sandus is associated with sandus gin- ³, see Gi̇̀mbut.
