Etymology
Cf. Tashis, Tashis (see). The origin is not entirely clear. Perhaps cf. lit. tăšas „aptašytas ar apipjautas pagalys, rąstelis“, tašýti „kirviu lyginti; smarkiai ką daryti ¹“ (DLKŽ). Further, cf. German Tasch(e), Täsch ², Tasche ³, Polish. Tasz, Taszo, Tasza (SSNO V 429), Taszowic, Taszowski, Taszyc(s)ki ⁴, bRuss. Toшa: Aнтoн ⁵ and so on.
